Wasn’t expecting that. The marketing would have you believe it’s an all girls rendering of The Hangover. It’s not. It’s more than that. I love The Hangover, but this has more to it. A really witty script, and great performances, turning expectations on their head and dealing with familiar situations with delicacy and freshness. 

Some real laugh out loud moments in this endless stream of uncomfortable and awkward scenarios. So cringeworthy in parts but due to the talent of Kirsten Wiig and Maya Rudolph it’s a great watch. Nice turn from Chris O’Dowd too, really nice.

My only criticism is the way the film relies on what I can only term Gervaisisms. It’s where a character responds to something someone says with a snide, audible aside, that is meant for the audience and is slightly apart from the scene. It’s almost endless here, but it’s the only sour note the film hits as mostly it’s charming, well written and genuinely funny.
