My Thoughts On…Rashomon

One of the greatest stories about stories. Beautifully told, it’s the telling of one story from various viewpoints and is a complex dissection of truth and how sometimes we prefer stories instead of the truth.
A morality play that still packs a punch today when we are still selfish, greedy, lying and so uncommunicative with and trusting of our fellow man.
Akira Kurosawa frames it so that we are complicit, we are the judges, we must decide and live with our judgement.
Breathtaking use of space and close ups. Exquisite, peerless and timeless cinema.
